Becoming homeless is one of my fears. In the Netherlands homeless people often carry their belongings with them on a bicycle. My fear driven fascination led to getting in contact with Ronald, whose bicycle I saw growing with more bags every week. He told me about his life and about the necessities and unpractical things, that he carried with him. He visited me at my studio when I thought my print was finished. His comment was that his collection of the many keys that he had found in the streets was missing in my work. Later I added the keys. It struck me that the one thing a homeless person does not have is a key to get access to a house. In printing I used real bags, socks, underwear and tires. The other items are created in woodcut.

Alankomaissa kodittomat ihmiset kantavat usein omaisuuttaan mukanaan polkupyörällä. Kodittomaksi joutumisen pelkoni aikaansaama kiinnostus sai minut ottamaan yhteyttä Ronaldiin, jonka polkupyörän tavaralasti kasvoi joka viikko. Hän kertoi minulle elämästään ja välttämättömistä ja epäkäytännöllisistä tavaroista, joita hän kantoi mukanaan. Hän vieraili studiollani katsomassa valmista teostani ja totesi, että siitä puuttui hänen kaduilta löytämiensä avainten kokoelma. Lisäsin sen myöhemmin teokseen. Ymmärsin, että se mitä kodittomalta henkilöltä puuttuu on juuri avain, jolla avata talon ovi. Toteutin teoksen aidon kokoisena painamalla oikeilla muovipusseilla, sukilla, alusvaatteilla ja renkailla. Loput esineet on tehty puupiirroksena.
