Teos liittyy aikaan, jolloin minusta tuli äiti. Perhe-elämään liittyvät tunteet ja niiden tulkitseminen alkoi kiinnostaa minua: kuvasin teoksissani paljon omaa lastani, ja myös omaan lapsuuteeni liittyvät tunteet nousivat pintaan. Löysin tuolloin sattumalta isäni ottaman diasarjan, jossa me lapset leikimme ulkona mummolassa. Aloin työstää dioja teoksiksi. Ajankohtaan liittyy myös uusi taiteen tekemisen tapa: olin ennen vanhemmaksi tuloa siirtynyt metalligrafiikasta puupiirrokseen, koska halusin vähentää kemikaalien käyttöä. Iso kissa -teos kuvaa pientä poikaa ja isoa kissaa. Teoksessa on huumoria ja iloa, joka liittyy kissan löytymiseen.

The work relates to the time when I became a mother. I became interested in the emotions related to family life and how to interpret them: I depicted often my own child in my work, and the emotions of my own childhood surfaced. At that time, I accidentally found a series of slides my father had taken of us children playing outside in the grandmother’s house. I started to work on the slides. It was also a period of starting to work with a new technique. Before having a child, I had switched from metal engraving to woodcuts because I wanted to reduce the use of chemicals. The Big Cat piece depicts a little boy and a big cat. There is humour and joy in the work about finding a cat.
