I got an email from 28 years old Emma: “My best friend works at neo natal clinic in Karlstad. Our common interest is theatre and recent years we have performed characters of old aunties Hjördis and Signe. While in middle of the rehearsals, I ended to a specialty hospital and became a mother. To be totally unprepared, and so far away from everyone I know, to have a baby I cannot see for all the tubes and cords, who also had a completely unique heart defect, is by far the worst I’ve ever been through. Then comes the day when the doctors say that we are allowed to fly back to Karlstad. My friend was standing there, and we were hugging each other. As we sat down and the tears continued to run down our cheeks, I looked up. And there is your print, the picture that is Hjördis and Signe. I have looked at this print and realized that I am not alone, and it helped me through the most difficult days of my life.”

Yhteinen kiinnostuksen kohteemme on teatteri, viime vuosina olemme esittäneet vanhojen tätien Hjördisin ja Signen hahmoja. Kesken harjoitusten päädyin erikoissairaanhoitoon ja tulin äidiksi. En ollut lainkaan valmistautunut ja kaukana kaikista tutuista, sain vauvan, jolla oli erittäin harvinainen sydänvika, enkä edes voinut nähdä häntä putkien ja johtojen vuoksi. Tämä oli ehdottomasti pahinta, mitä olen koskaan kokenut. Sitten tuli päivä, jolloin lääkärit sanoivat, että saisimme lentää takaisin Karlstadiin. Ystäväni seisoi vastassa ja halasimme toisiamme. Kun istuimme alas kyynelten valuessa poskia pitkin, katsoin ylös. Näin teoksesi, jossa ovat ilmetyt Hjördis ja Signe.
